1.5 million meter V-AMI deployment in China announced by Glen Canyon Corporation

San Antonio, TX, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — January 26, 2012 – A project to deploy 1.5 million advanced single phase meters in China has been announced by Glen Canyon Corporation and Beijing Guozhiheng Power Management Technology Group Co., Ltd.

The project will use Glen Canyon’s Virtual AMI (V-AMI) AMI-as-service business model in which the up-front capital cost is replaced by a low monthly service fee. V-AMI is enabled by Glen Canyon’s standards compliant NEXGEN smart meters communicating through existing network infrastructure to NEXGEN Cloud meter data management software and browser-based applications.

The internet enabled communicating meters and applications software system will be deployed over 18 months. GZH Power, one of the authorized technology platform providers for the China State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), will collaborate with SERC to deploy the advanced metering infrastructure to support V-AMI.

“As one of the authorized technology platform providers for SERC, we are constantly looking for improvements to our AMI systems,” commented Du Guangyao, executive president of GZH Power. “Glen Canyon’s V-AMI will increase performance and efficiency."

“We are pleased to work with GZH Power and their customer, SERC,” added Dr John Heibel, chairman and CEO of Glen Canyon. “Their selection of V-AMI is a significant validation of our AMI-as-service business model and NEXGEN technology.”
