More prepaid meters for Maharashtra, India


August 11, 2011 – After successfully installing prepaid electricity meters in Lonavla, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) plans to make available prepaid electricity meters for consumers in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

In the first phase, 6,000 prepaid meters will be installed for consumers. Initially, preference would be given for installation of the prepaid meters in apartments. The customers will be given 5% discount on bills and the cost of the prepaid meter would be borne by MSEDCL.

Initially, the MSEDCL plans to install 25,000 prepaid meters in Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kalyan and Kolhapur zones.
