New Delhi, India — (METERING.COM) — October 21, 2008 – North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL), a Tata Power and Government of Delhi joint venture company, has announced the extension of a 2 percent rebate on prepaid recharge coupons to all its prepayment meter consumers.
NDPL started introducing prepaid meter connections to its customers in 2005. Currently NDPL has over 3,000 prepaid meter customers.
"We are pleased to extend to all our customers the rebates, which were primarily being given to government offices and institutions," said an NDPL spokesperson.
With the meter consumers are provided with a smart card, which stores information on electricity usage. When the available credit drops to 25 percent of the original amount a preset alarm goes off as a reminder to the customer to recharge. Recharge coupons are available in amounts from Rs1,000 to Rs5,000 (US$20 to US$100)
NDPL provides electricity to about 4.5 million people in the north and north-west of Delhi.
