Hanoi, Vietnam — (METERING.COM) — March 9, 2009 – The Ha Noi Electricity Company has started installing new electricity meters with three price levels for the production and service sectors following the coming into effect of new electricity prices on March 1.
The three price bands cover the high demand times from 9.30-11.30 am and 5-8 pm, the normal times from 4-9.30 am, 11.30 am-5 pm, and 8-10 pm, and the low demand times from 10 pm-4 am.
Depending on when customers use the most electricity, the cost may reach VND3,100 (US$0.18) per kWh.
Under the new tariffs households will be charged VND600 (US$0.03) per kWh for the first 50 kWh, rising to a maximum price of VND1,790 (US$0.1) per kWh for consumption above 401 kWh.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, head of Ha Noi Electricity Company’s business department, was quoted as saying the installation of the new meters will be complete by the end of May – the deadline laid down by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
