New Delhi, India — (METERING.COM) — June 25, 2013 – Power Grid Corporation of India is to provide technical and managerial support for improvements to the intra-state transmission and distribution systems of six northeastern states, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Tripura.
These projects will improve grid connectivity and enhance these states’ capability to supply power to larger section of consumers with economy and reliability.
PowerGrid has been appointed as Design cum Implementation Supervision Consultant by the Ministry of Power. The total aggregate estimated project cost is Rs.8150.07 crore (US$1.36 billion). The World Bank has agreed to consider an umbrella loan covering 85% of the total project cost. The states will contribute 5% of the cost as equity, and the remaining 10% will be provided by Government of India.
