San Mateo, CA, U.S.A. and Taipei, Taiwan — (METERING.COM) — August 13, 2010 – Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) has selected eMeter’s EnergyIP information platform and customer web portal for use in its upcoming smart grid pilot program, the company has announced.
The ITRI will implement its AMI demonstration for domestic industry and regulation development. Government funding for the AMI pilot project was secured, and plans to involve 300-500 customers. The pilot includes a basic functional test that may contribute to AMI regulation and standards in Taiwan. The communication architecture and system interfaces will also be evaluated.
The project marks eMeter’s first customer win in Taiwan and features that led to the choice of Energy IP are its reliability and scalability.
“eMeter is one of the global leaders in providing information management software for the smart grid and that’s why ITRI invites eMeter to join this pilot project", said the project leader, Dr. Eager Huang, of the ITRI.
The ITRI is a nonprofit R&D organization engaging in applied research and technical services, and has played a vital role in transforming Taiwan’s economy from a labor intensive industry to a high-tech industry.
