India formalises National Smart Grid Mission
India’s move to create smart cities will drive the demand for smart gas and electricity metering

In India, a subsidiary of the Gas Authority of India Limited (Gail) has issued a tender for a smart metering system to be deployed in Bangalore (Bengaluru), the capital of India’s southern Karnataka state.

Gail Gas Limited is a wholly owned part of Gail Limited, the largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company in India.

The natural gas distributor is running an e-tender for Indian manufacturers or subsidiaries of foreign manufacturers to supply a smart metering system for domestic and commercial customers.

The supplier will also be responsible for related services such as recommending the most appropriate location for placing data concentrators as well as integrating and commissioning the smart metering/automatic meter reading system and billing software using walk-by and drive-by solutions.

Interested parties can attend a pre-bid meeting on 22 June, 2016 at the utility’s Bangalore office.
