TEPCO, Mitsubishi and Hitachi digitise plant maintenance for the Philippines

A subsidiary of Tokyo Power and Electric Company, Fuel and Power, has delivered its smart grid solution to a utility in the Philippines since the signing of an agreement with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) to help energy providers optimise their operations.

TEPCO Fuel and Power and MHPS launched their digital solution service and supplied it to Team Energy allowing the utility to remotely manage its Pagbiliao Power Station.

The system shares information over an Internet of Things platform to enable early detection of anomalies in plant equipment.

This improves plant efficiency and reduces operational and maintenance costs for the utility.

The solutions provider claims their technology will help reduce the use of fossil fuels, curb carbon emissions and enhance the conservation of the global environment.

TEPCO continues to expand its footprint in the utilities and energy industry by venturing in research and development, as well as by providing new and innovative technologies.

In early July, the Japanese utility established a new subsidiary, TEPCO Ventures, to turn new businesses into venture companies.

The new business unit started operations on July 2 to help its owner to respond quickly and more effectively to deregulation and energy market changes. Read more…

TEPCO is also a member of the Energy Web Foundation, a consortium of companies aiming to scale up the use of blockchain in the energy industry.
