Sydney, Australia — (METERING.COM) — December 1, 2006 – The Australia-based Bayard Group – already in the news this year because of its acquisition of Hunt Technologies and Enermet – has bought Cellnet, an AMR solutions company located in the U.S. Cellnet sells both equipment and managed services to the electric, water and gas industries; every day the company reads over 11 million meters.

The company’s flexible business model and partnerships with leading meter manufacturers like Elster, GE, Itron, Landis+Gyr, and Sensus enable it to offer customers a wide range of metering solutions, which Bayard supports.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to acquire Cellnet,” said Cameron O’Reilly, Managing Director of Bayard. “Bayard is backed by internationally respected long term investors and we are committed to supporting the further development of Cellnet’s technology and enhancement of its excellent partner and customer relationships for the benefit of current and future customers. Cellnet technology will complement the meter and AMR technologies currently available from Bayard. Thus we anticipate technology and manufacturing synergies from the transaction that will also benefit our partners and customers.”
