BPL AMR project gives life to Italian utility

Brescia, Italy—(METERING.COM)—June 26, 2006 – ASM SpA, a North Italian electric company, has selected MainNet Communication’s AmrPLUS™ automatic meter reading (AMR) system for its 250,000 households in the city of Brescia. The system is capable of remote operation via an existing power grid.

AmrPLUS will be implemented within ASM’s BPL-based network. Installation, configuration and monitoring will be facilitated by NmPLUS™, MainNet’s network management system, designed to operate with ASM’s existing billing and OSS systems. The new network will give ASM the flexibility to combine next-generation broadband Internet communication services with automated, multiple-utility meter reading.

Oreste Galasso, Executive Manager of ASM, has commented that “MainNet provided us with the most comprehensive solution, meeting all our needs for same-time meter reading and giving us powerful network control of our wide range of regional utilities, including gas, district heating and electricity”.
