British Gas launches energy saving campaign

London, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — September 19, 2006 – British Gas has announced the results of its Energy Savers Report, a survey of one million UK households, which shows that 66 per cent of them would not pass an energy efficiency test.

According to research company Datamonitor, British Gas plans to help UK households reduce energy waste by £1 billion (US$1.9 billion). The utility’s “Save a Billion” campaign has two core aims – to raise awareness of the scale of UK energy waste, and to highlight simple steps consumers can take to reduce the amount of energy they waste.

British Gas points out that if energy waste continues at current levels, £1 billion worth of energy every year will be wasted by 2020.
