Avantha Group CG has secured a €30 million deal to supply Spanish electric utility Iberdrola with more than 1 million single smart meters in a year.
The order comprises PRIME single-phase and three-phase meters and will be supplied by CG’s Spanish meter manufacturer ZIV.
The deal is in response to Spain’s regulatory framework that makes it mandatory for 70 per cent of analogue meters to be replaced by 2016 and 100 per cent by 2018.
ZIV has also picked up contracts this year with other European utilities Energias de Portugal and Gas Natural Fenosa.
