Portuguese distribution utility EDP has confirmed electronics group Efacec as the main supplier of PLC data concentrators.

Efacec completed the supply of 2,000 PRIME-enabled SmartGate data concentrators to the utility, comprising 75 per cent of the total concentrators needed for the smart grid programme.

The concentrators are being used in MV/LV substations. Our solutions further adds local substation monitoring and control as well as telecontrol interface.

A key partner of the InovGrid project, Efacec is a worldwide provider of smart grid products and solutions from smart metering to advanced SCADA/DMS/OMS and Distribution Automation.

Efacec, better known as a supplier of transformers and switchgear equipment, is new to the metering market and is looking to expand its services into southern Europe.
