Malmö, Sweden and San Jose, CA, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — July 5, 2013 – Swedish utility E.ON Elnät Sverige is to implement Echelon’s Networked Energy Services (NES) software and element manager to support its over 400,000 smart meter deployment.
The solution will form part of the Smart Grid as a Service being implemented by Ericsson to provide new features including the ability to remotely upgrade the meters with new meter functionality and to monitor network conditions to prevent and predict outages.
In April E.ON Elnät Sverige selected Ericsson for a hosted smart metering solution, including consulting and systems integration services, harnessing big data and smart grid solutions for its customers. Collected data will be exported daily, and provided to E.ON’s internal IT environment.

E.ON Elnät Sverige’s smart meters were supplied by Echelon in a rollout starting in late-2006.
