Malmö, Sweden — (METERING.COM) — April 18, 2013 – E.ON Sweden has contracted Capgemini and Ericsson for five years to provide more than one million customers better information about outages, price and consumption.

Capgemini will deliver a range of smart meter management services for electricity and gas to E.ON Elnät AB. The contract includes management of just under half of E.ON’s portfolio of smart meters in Sweden, and encompasses services including regular and scheduled meter reading, field services, service desk, management reporting, data center hosting and application management. Capgemini will also be responsible for managing subcontractors, such as telecommunications, software providers, meter manufacturers and field service providers.

Ericsson’s hosted solution will cover more than 600,000 metering points of E.ON Elnät AB in northern Stockholm, Malmö, Örebro, as well as Norrköping and Skåne. The solution includes meter reading and control, meter management, meter monitoring, service layer agreement (SLA) management, work force management, asset management, business process management, as well as field services and an operations center.

“The number of active consumers with greater interest and knowledge of their own electricity consumption is increasing more and more, which places different demands on us as an energy company,” said Per-Olof Lindholm, CEO of E.ON Networks. “Together, we will now take the step towards second generation collection and management of meter data.”

E.ON has also selected Ventyx to implement its business analytics, network optimization, load forecasting, demand response and distributed resource management solutions in its new smart grid control center in Malmö, Sweden. The center is anticipated to be operational in early 2014 for test and development purposes.
