ENGIE to connect all its employees to digital applications by 2021


French multinational electric utility ENGIE has signed a declaration with the European Works Council to have 100% of its employees connected with digital applications within 2 years.

The declaration was signed by Isabelle Kocher, the CEO of ENGIE, and Robert Textoris, the CEO of the European Works Council.

The declaration reflects ENGIE’s commitment to anticipating and supporting the economic, social and organisational changes resulting from the development of digital technologies.

In line with a study conducted by the European Works Council, ENGIE has committed to:

1. Maintaining and developing skills and training in digital applications

Each digital project will be assessed for its impact in terms of jobs and skills.

2. Supporting changing work patterns

ENGIE will assess the impacts of new digital tools such as teleworking on the way in which work is structured and for collective, individual and managerial relationships.

 3. Confirming the importance of quality of life at work

Changes related to new technologies will be taken into account in the implementation of the Quality of Life at Work policy at all levels of the Group’s structure, especially in terms of work-life balance.

4. Respecting individual freedoms

Digital applications must be deployed in strict compliance with individual freedoms and European and national regulations on the protection of personal data.

5. IT security and protecting intangible assets

Employees must be made aware of risks associated with new technologies and contribute to the implementation of the protective measures defined by management.

6. Social dialogue in relation to digital transformation projects

Since 2016, ENGIE has put the energy transition at the core of its strategy by leveraging digital technologies.

The joint declaration that we are signing today with our European social partners creates a fully-fledged social dialogue roadmap for the Group and all of its entities as regards digital technologies. It will enable our 170,000 employees to make better use of digital tools and do so with confidence, while the Group will be able to continue to move forward.”
