Helsinki, Finland — (METERING.COM) — November 15, 2010 – Fortum and Process Vision have signed a contract for a large scale meter data management (MDM) system including professional services for consultation, commissioning and testing the system as well as migrating the data from Fortum’s existing systems.
The main objective of the project, which will deploy the GENERIS solution, is to enable Fortum to prepare for the new requirements of year 2013 set by the new Finnish regulations for meter data management.
The system delivery complies with the needs of invoicing hourly measured electricity customers and performing the electricity supplier’s balance settlement resulting from the grid companies’ obligation to implement hourly measurements of electricity consumption for minimum 80 percent of the delivery points by the end of the year 2013.
“The drastic increase on measurement volumes has a strong impact to our business processes,” commented Pamela Molander, project manager at Fortum. “The new GENERIS system has a high performance for importing, validating and processing the data in narrow time windows. After the implementation of hourly meter readings and implementing systems to manage these we can also offer more tailored contracts, based on hourly data, to our customers.”
