Vienna, Austria — (METERING.COM) — October 4, 2010 – The IDIS (Interoperable Device Interface Specifications) Association has reported that its goal of producing interoperability standards for smart metering is on track with the IDIS PLC profile and objects list due to published later this month and the DC application interface in December.
In addition the Association has developed testing procedures and tools for use by test institutes that will undertake independent testing and certify products IDIS compliant.
The IDIS Association is committed to open interface specifications for utility applications, in order that both software and hardware investments are simplified and future-proof. The IDIS specifications will be made publicly available.
The PLC S-FSK profile and other items make up the first package of IDIS release 1 from the Association. A second package comprising IPv4 profile, a second edition of the objects list, DC-HES interface and HAN interface, will be published in 2011. A second release comprising PLC OFDM profile and IPv6 profile will appear in 2012.
The IDIS Association is a non-profit, association established to maintain and promote publicly the IDIS standards and support their implementation in interoperable products. The current members are Iskraemeco, Itron and Landis+Gyr.
