London, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — October 23, 2006 – Flownetix, a manufacturer of a range of ultrasonic instrumentation, has won a global award for innovation in the control, instrumentation and robotics category at the IET’s annual Innovation in Engineering Awards for its low cost, low power, non-moving-part consumer water meter.
The judges said: “Water management is an increasingly important issue for society and this development promises a means of straightforward and acceptable metering as a result of improved accuracy and reliability.”
The judges added that the product transfers an established industrial measurement technique to a high volume consumer application and has potential markets worldwide. The company says its product overcomes problems associated with conventional mechanical meters.
Dr. Alf Roberts, CEO of the IET said: “These awards recognize the vital role that innovation in engineering plays in the global economy. On behalf of the IET I would like to congratulate all the winners who have displayed outstanding innovation in their respective categories.” A total of 17 awards, each sponsored by a major company, were presented at a ceremony at the IET’s London HQ in Savoy Place.
