Brussels, Belgium — (METERING.COM) — May 3, 2010 – The KNX Association has launched its completely redesigned engineering tool software (ETS), ETS4, which also includes a set of new functions, in a Beta version.
ETS4, which is scheduled for launch in October 2010, is aimed at improving the ease and speed to implement KNX projects. Moreover, the use of a standardized open interface allows the exchange of ETS data with other applications and the integration of various apps.
KNX is a worldwide standard for home and building control and is based on more than 15 years of experience in the market, with predecessor systems including the European Installation Bus (EIB), EHS and the French BatiBUS
The ETS is a product and manufacturer independent standard tool for KNX, which is available in 15 languages, and supports installations for all media, twisted pair, radio frequency, Ethernet/IP and power line.
A key requirement for ETS4 was to offer a clearly structured, intuitive user interface lowering the entry barriers for starters in the KNX technology. With wide ranging input, the result is a state-of-the-art tool that meets the needs of a modern home and building control technology. The menus have been updated, a practical selection lists allow fast access to further data, and a wizard permits step by step project design, while workflow improvement is ensured per drag and drop, error checks and help functions.
New functions include a project compare to check existing KNX installations, extended copy function and project and tool diagnosis for efficient and reliable project design, and long term recording for maintenance and troubleshooting.
ETS4 is based on the latest technologies, standards and operating systems, including XML to enable all information to be opened and displayed in any text editor or web browser.
