Montenegro utility to purchase over 130,000 meters


Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro — (METERING.COM) — August 16, 2006 – The public energy company has today announced that it will purchase more than 130,000 electricity meters worth over 5 million Euro as part of a meter replacement program in September.

The purchase will be made up of 119,000 three-phase meters and 7,500 single-phase meters from French meter manufacturer Sagem; 4,229 multifunction meters will be supplied by ENEL of Italy.

The meter purchase is part of a program which will see the gradual replacement of all existing meters over the next ten years, at a cost of over 200 million Euros. The country’s energy legislation stipulates that EPS is responsible for maintenance of the existing meter park, and for the purchase of new meters.
