Skanderborg, Denmark — (METERING.COM) — May 3, 2012 – A new energy monitor app enabling utilities to provide their consumers with a complete overview of their home energy consumption and increase their energy awareness has been launched by smart metering provider Kamstrup.
With the app, consumers can graphically follow their energy consumption anytime and anywhere, and have the possibility of taking action to alter the consumption.
The app automatically collects new data, and offers it in daily, weekly, monthly and yearly formats and for comparison for up to three years. At the same time, the standby consumption can also be viewed to build awareness of not switching off appliances.
As an extra feature, utilities can use the app to communicate directly with their customers for example to send out news, information on grid breakdowns, energy saving tips and tricks, energy prices on various times of the day, etc.
In-app features such as alarms can be added so that for example the consumer can easily go away from the home knowing full well that a notification will be sent if the consumption exceeds a certain limit.
The app will at first be launched for electricity utilities, but in the long term, heat and water utilities will also have the possibility to offer it to their consumers.
It is released for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android and is available in the App Store and at Google Play.
