New customer information system for Vantaa Energy

Vantaa, Finland — (METERING.COM) — January 23, 2009 – Vantaa Energy, one of Finland’s largest urban energy companies, is to acquire a new customer information and billing system.

The new online solution, from the Nordic IT service company Tieto, gives customers the opportunity to manage their energy account via the internet 24/7. Through the system customers will have access to more diverse and up-to-date information, including meter readings, which will be automatically included in the energy bill.

Vantaa Energy’s new system package will enable the utilization of online service channels and automatic meter reading to automate operations. Additionally, the functionalities required by the separation of electricity sales and transmission are taken into consideration in the system.

"We want to invest strongly in online services. Today’s young people will make their first electric agreement online," believes Vantaa Energy’s ICT manager Juha Niemi.

Vantaa Energy decided on the solution from Tieto, which also supplied the company’s previous customer information system, after an extensive two-year market analysis and search.

The aim is to deploy the new system in early autumn 2010.

Vantaa Energy is owned by the City of Vantaa and City of Helsinki and produces and sells electricity and district heating, as well as natural gas for industry.

Tieto has offices in Finland and Sweden and focuses on serving large and medium-sized organizations in Northern Europe, Germany and Russia.
