Dublin, Ireland — (METERING.COM) — January 21, 2011 – Secure Meters and Irish prepay electricity company PrePayPower.ie have concluded an agreement to offer on the Irish market a prepay electricity service similar to those offered in the mobile telephone market.
This is expected to open the Irish market to an entirely new form of competition, giving consumers cost certainty, easy budgeting, reliable energy management information and no bills.
“The Secure Meters team are delighted to be able to work with PrePayPower.ie to ensure the energy consumers in Ireland can take advantage of keypad based pay-as-you-go metering,” commented Jim Shields, head of sales for Secure Meters in Ireland. “From our experience around the world, this technology has proven very popular with householders who want to move away from estimated bills to enjoying cost certainty and the advantages of technically advanced electricity measurement.”
PrePayPower.ie is focussed exclusively on supplying electricity in the Republic of Ireland using the prepay model. Currently only 2 percent of electricity users in the Republic are on prepay but this is expected to grow rapidly in a changing market.
“PrePayPower.ie has closely worked with Secure Meters to make sure that consumers in Ireland can take advantage of advanced energy metering technology that has been in use in other parts of the world for over 10 years,” added Aidan O’Neill, CEO of PrePayPower.ie. “Our customers will enjoy all the benefits of a bill free, worry free, hassle free, cost controlled pay-as-you-go energy supply contract.”
