Auckland, New Zealand and London, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — November 3, 2010 – New Zealand power company Mighty River Power is to trial British customer intelligence solutions provider Onzo’s smart energy kit.

Onzo will supply Mighty River Power’s retail arm, Mercury Energy, with the smart energy kit, which will be trialled to determine the impact of providing customers with information about how much energy they are using, how much it’s costing them and how to reduce or change their consumption.

The kit comprises an energy display, clip on sensor and an integrated web portal.

Onzo’s professional services team will also be involved in the project, providing a range of consulting help.

“Our partnership with Onzo for this trial is an exciting development for Mercury Energy,” commented James Munro, GM Retail and Corporate Affairs at Mighty River Power. “We’re increasingly focused on bringing innovative new products to our customers that help them to better understand their energy consumption, and we’re confident that our trial customers will respond positively to a great product that gives them better control of their energy spend.”

The contract is Onzo’s second in the region. Last year, the company worked with ActewAGL in Australia to modify the smart energy kit so that it could be used to measure water consumption.
