London, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — February 4, 2009 – U.K. energy regulator Ofgem has announced changes in the management structure of its Networks and Operations Divisions. The Operations Division will be renamed the Operations and Regulatory Services Division, and will take on responsibility for developing the offshore transmission regime and for running the planned tenders to appoint offshore transmission companies.
Bob Hull will move from his current position as Transmission Director to head up a new Directorate responsible for Regulatory Services comprising Ofgem’s existing administration of the government’s Renewable Obligation and Carbon Emission Reduction Target schemes and the offshore transmission arrangements.
In Networks, the existing gas and electricity distribution teams will be merged and headed up by Rachel Fletcher as Director of Distribution. A new Transmission Director will be recruited and appointed to replace Bob Hull. The existing Technical Directorate will be redeployed within the new Distribution and Transmission teams. A new Technical Advisor – a senior engineer with experience in the gas and electricity industries – will be appointed to replace John Scott and will sit on Ofgem’s Executive Committee.
