Oxford, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — July 2, 2012 – Opus Energy has contracted Siemens to support its continuing smart meter rollout program, delivery of which started in May.
The 5-year contract, which follows an initial pilot of 500 installations to test Siemens’ install capability and data presentation, is for meter operation, data retrieval, processing and aggregation throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
For Opus Energy being able to forecast accurate consumption is key to its business strategy to procure energy as efficiently as possible. Along with keen pricing, its customers are also demanding accurate billing. Customer engagement by Siemens is critical for Opus Energy to minimise disruption when meters are installed, so reliable, ‘first time fit’ installation capability was also a priority for Opus Energy when considering its selection criteria.
Opus Energy is a U.K. business to business energy provider. The company plans to have 40,000 smart meters installed by the end of 2012.
