]Koblenz, Germany --- (METERING.COM) --- May 5, 2009 - Metering specialist GÖRLITZ and the Munich-based energy service provider ENSECO have entered into a partnership for the installation, operation and reading of intelligent residential meters in Germany.

Smart metering is still in the teething stage in the German market. However, the ordinance decreed by the government regarding metering access (MessZV) is expected to accelerate developments in this direction.

Endesa launches new deregulated electricity market tariff

[img:Endesa%20Logo.thumbnail.gif| ]Madrid, Spain --- (METERING.COM) --- May 4, 2009 - Endesa has unveiled a new deregulated market tariff, affording customers a discount of up to 12 percent on current regulated market prices.

The new tariff guarantees a fixed electricity price up to December 31, 2009 for customers with power requirements of over 15 kW, representing an 8 percent discount on the currently applicable regulated market prices. Moreover, customers who sign up for the new tariff before May 31 will benefit from a further 2-4 percent discount, depending on their particular electricity distribution zone.

This is the central message of the report from the WBCSD's four-year, $15 million Efficiency in Buildings (EEB) research project, the most rigorous study ever conducted on the subject.

Enhancing competition in the deregulated European gas distribution market

[img:european%20flag_0.jpg| ] The EUREKA E! 3688 INTELLGAS project has developed a cost-effective and easy to-use approach to forecasting gas consumption up to 48 hours ahead to keep the wholesale price of gas purchases under control. The project developed a hardware and software system that measures and corrects gas consumption figures at user premises, transmits the data to the distribution centre and then uses it to predict consumption based on historic use data and temperature forecasts.

The European Parliament has twice voted to support the rollout of Smart Metering in the European Union. The European Smart Metering Industry Group (ESMIG) applauds the European Parliament’s decisions and welcomes the increasing momentum for Smart Metering in Europe as a result of EU support.

On  22 April 2009, the European Parliament approved an agreement reached by the EU Institutions on a package of legislation to liberalise EU energy markets. The package includes Electricity and Gas Directives which require the EU Member States to “ensure the implementation of intelligent metering systems.”

Technology chosen for first advanced metering project in Switzerland

EV Biberist has awarded the contract to Echelon’s NES value-added reseller partner GÖRLITZ Schweiz AG to provide advanced metering infrastructure to all of its 5,000 household customers over the next three to five years.
