Warsaw, Poland — (METERING.COM) — December 13, 2010 – Poland’s Smart Power Grids Consortium has expanded with five new members signing up as participants.
The new members are meter manufacturer Apator. S.A., Bank Zachodni WBK, the Institute for Nuclear Studies, the Opole University of Technology, and WINUEL S.A., part of the Sygnity Group, which offers comprehensive IT solutions supporting essential business processes of the energy and industrial sectors.
The consortium was established last month with the aim to develop the smart grid concept in Poland, with founding committee members including Mariusz Swora, president of the Energy Regulatory Office.
One of the first actions of the consortium will be to launch a postgraduate course on smart grids, which will be led by Wroclaw University of Technology in the academic year 2011/2012.
Other actions will include the development of a smart grid roadmap and R&D on innovative technologies for the smart grid.
