Power switch offers new service opportunities

EnermetJyskä, Finland — (METERING.COM) — October 17, 2006 –Enermet, a global provider of energy metering and load management solutions for the energy industry, has introduced a power switch called EPS30/10. The EPS extends the control functionality of Enermet’s AIM system, offers new service opportunities and helps to cut down costly site visits to turn power on and off. Even when the power is turned off, the meter has a power supply and can be read by an AMR system.

The EPS has two delivery options to suit different situations. It can be delivered either pre-assembled or separately. Pre-assembled delivery makes installation quick and easy – the information from both the meter and EPS are entered into the AIM system easily in one configuration file. When delivered separately, EPS can be installed on the terminal block of a suitable DIN-compliant electricity meter.

The EPS device is controlled by the meter’s semi-conductor relay, and the relay controls are sent from the AIM system. EPS is simple to use: the power supply state is controlled by the AIM system either directly or with manual local activation, and LEDs indicate the state of the power supply (off, on or ready). When the power supply is in the on or ready state, the end customer can turn the power on or off with the device’s push button. Relay status can be read from the EPS30 device.
EPS meets strict environmental requirements; it is made of recyclable materials and conforms to the RoHS directive.
