Rising energy costs need not affect Italian consumers

Milan, Italy — (METERING.COM) — July 2, 2008 – Italian energy company MPE Energia is offering its customers the opportunity to purchase rechargeable cards to buy electricity at a fixed price. The cards – which will be sold from August 2008 – are available for the purchase of 3,000 kWh, 4,500 kWh or 6,000 kWh per year.

MPE Energia says the offer has been made possible in these times of increasing energy tariffs because the company has taken steps to protect itself against increases in the cost of power. At this stage the offer is only open to electric customers, but consideration is being given to including gas customers at a later date.
