Winchester and Bristol, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — January 28, 2008 – The Entity Group, provider of intelligent metering solutions to 54 countries worldwide, with companies in the UK, India, Sweden, Australia, Singapore, and the Middle East, has announced that Horstmann has joined the Group. Horstmann is a manufacturer of domestic and commercial heating controls for electrical and gas heating systems.

The move creates the U.K.’s most advanced interoperable range of smart metering and home control solutions. Long established, Horstmann has a pre-eminent position in the U.K. for smart metering and demand side energy management products, which use the Radio Teleswitch system.

Entity Group’s U.K. interests include PRI, which shares the same vision and strategic synergy for smart metering and home energy controls as Horstmann. Each business will remain focused on its own customer base and markets. By promoting the benefits of smart metering, both businesses see energy conservation through the active involvement of domestic energy users as a key element of the climate change debate.

Sanjaya Singhal, CEO, Entity Group comments: “Horstmann is a perfect fit for our strategy to deliver smart metering in the U.K., and for our global advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) roadmap. Its experience and knowledge of home controls and display devices, combined with a strong development team, will help develop the company as a centre of excellence in these areas.”

Horstmann will still be led by managing director Les Woolner and engineering and operations director Andy Deeming. Woolner says: “This move provides us with the necessary technological and financial resources to address the rapidly developing smart metering market and build our position in heating controls. With our success in bringing new products and services to market, as part of the Entity Group we will respond even more quickly to the challenges ahead.”
