Tokyo, Japan and Rome, Italy — (METERING.COM) — July 23, 2013 – Toshiba Transmission and Distribution Europe S.p.A. (TTDE) and the Italian national agency for new technologies, energy and sustainable economic development ENEA, have signed an agreement on the joint development of energy management systems optimized for Europe.
The agreement covers a wide range of areas including energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, smart grids, electric storage for the grid, and electric mobility.
“We have all the capabilities required for a successful collaboration with ENEA,” said Takeshi Yokota, corporate vice president of Toshiba. “We will customize our state-of-the-art technologies for the European market through collaboration with ENEA and boost our grid solution business in Europe.”
A statement from Toshiba says that Toshiba and TTDE – the former Ansaldo T&D which Toshiba acquired in 2011 – will propose solutions such as grid stabilization with micro energy management systems (μEMS) and frequency control and adjustment via rechargeable batteries for localized grid balancing.
