Turnkey meter installation project handed over

Finland FlagHelsinki, Finland — (METERING.COM) — November 23, 2006 – Finnish meter manufacturer Enermet has handed over a turn key AMR project to Vantaan Energia; the project was a good example of cooperation between multiple partners. Begun in May 2006, installations were up to full speed by October, and completion was on schedule.

The AMR project called for the automation of meter reading for 30,000 residential metering sites. “Enermet is managing the project and providing the advanced AMR system Enermet AIM,” explains Rauno Leinonen, Enermet’s sales director for Finland. “Eltel Networks is taking care of the meter installations, and TietoEnator is providing solutions for the utilisation of the information, for instance billing.”

Timo Ruokola, head of measuring services for Vantaan Energia, points out that the very nature of a turnkey delivery suits them. “Our responsibility in running the everyday operations of this project is relatively small, as it should be. In a turnkey project it is crucial that Enermet as the orchestrator of the project has the needed expertise to understand and manage the big picture and the content of the delivery as a whole.”

Vantaan Energia has been happy with the way the project has been handled. “Even though managing multiple suppliers can be a real challenge, it seems to us that the project is under control and the cooperation between different parties has run smoothly,” notes Ruokola, adding that integration of all systems was vital for success, and this too had been achieved.
