Two Finnish utilities to implement AMM solution

Panelia and Kemi, Finland — (METERING.COM) — October 27, 2008 – Two Finish utilities, Satapirkan Sähkö and Kemin Energia, are to implement Landis+Gyr automatic metering management (AMM) solutions.

Satapirkan Sähkö has invested €10 million in the AMM solution to remotely read and control 70,000 meter points. Landis+Gyr will supply 40,000 meters while the remainder will be supplied by another manufacturer.

Satapirkan Sähkö consists of nine different partner companies, out of which eight will be connected to the new AMM solution. Part of the solution is AIM Dashboard, a web-based application, offering customer service personnel quick and easy online access to the device information. The solution also provides real time metering information which can be directly integrated with the electricity utility’s own Customer Information System.

Installation work will commence in the fall 2008 and will be completed during 2012.

Kemin Energia is to implement smart metering into 15,000 households to improve its meter reading and invoicing processes and also improve customer service. As with Satapirkan Sähkö the solution will be integrated into Kemin Sähkö’s CIS using the AIMIA integration application.

In addition to the AMM system, the contract also includes the delivery of meters and communication units.

Satapirkan Sähkö is a cooperative and service company that owns nine local electricity companies with a total of about 120,000 customers in the areas of Satakunta, Pirkanmaa and Varsinais-Suomi.

Kemin Energia supplies electricity and district heat to 14,700 customers in Kemi.
