U.K. energy regulator appoints director for Scotland

ofgem2London, U.K. — (METERING.COM) — May 12, 2007 – Ofgem, the Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets and regulator of these industries in the U.K., has appointed Charles Gallacher as Director of Corporate Communications and Scotland.

Ofgem Chief Executive Alistair Buchanan said: “We are committed to reinforcing Ofgem’s presence in Scotland. Charles’ appointment demonstrates Ofgem’s recognition of the importance of Scotland in the British energy market.”

Charles Gallacher added: “There are some big challenges for Scottish consumers and the gas and electricity industry in Scotland. These include the development of renewable generation and the roll out of infrastructure that is required if Scotland is to realize its targets in renewable power generation. Naturally I am pleased that Ofgem has acknowledged this with the increased profile my new appointment gives to Ofgem’s involvement in this work.”
