US water utility EBMUB seeks suppliers for AMI system


In the US, Oakland-based water utility East Bay Municipal Utility District has issued a tender for technical information about available advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems.

EBMUB wants to select a radio network to address distribution system and customer service needs.

According to a statement, the utility plans to grow its AMI deployment over time focusing on areas of highest benefit.

The utility is interested in:

  • Fully automated, 2 way fixed based system capable of reading systems in drive by mode and meters hourly with a battery life of 20 years based on the read frequency.
  • Both current and in development AMI technology to be released in near future.

The RFI should include the number of years equipment has been deployed in the market or, if in development, the scheduled release date.
