Palatine, IL — (METERING.COM) — November 11, 2008 – In accordance with the US Energy Policy Act of 2005 for Navy and Marine Corps requirements on a worldwide basis, the two defence units are compelled to cost-effectively allocate and manage energy resources, including electricity, natural gas, steam, and water commodities.
To this end, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps have selected Schneider Electric as one of three firms awarded a firm-fixed price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity multiple award contract in support of the Advance Metering Infrastructure Program. The work includes design, procurement, installation, and testing of building-level, advanced metering solutions as related to the act.
The contract was procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online Web site, with seven proposals received. Selected contractors may compete for task orders under the terms and conditions of the awarded ID/IQ contract. Maximum program dollar value for the three contracts is US$250 million.
Work, worldwide, is expected to be completed by September 2013. The Navy’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Program is managed by Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) for the Commander Naval Installations Command (CNIC), Port Hueneme, California.

In related power monitoring news, Schneider Electric was recently awarded the first ID/IQ MAC task order for the Navy Base Ventura County (California), which includes Port Hueneme, Point Mugu, and San Nicolas Island. The task order installation performance work statement encompasses 258 meter endpoints. The task order will begin the first phase of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project.
