AMI integration agreement signed

Raleigh, NC, and Lafayette, IN, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — January 22, 2008 – Sensus Metering Systems of Raleigh, North Carolina and Landis+Gyr of Lafayette, Indiana have entered into an agreement whereby Sensus will develop a FlexNet SmartPoint™ communications module for the Landis+Gyr FOCUS™ AL, AX and S4e meter platforms. The endpoint will be available for purchase mid-year.

“We are excited to begin this partnership with Landis+Gyr and look forward to supplying our customers with additional choices when it comes to their metering platform,” said Doug McCall, Director of AMI Marketing at Sensus. “This initiative continues our strategy of providing the highest interoperability with FlexNet.”

FlexNet is a flexible RF fixed network utility meter reading AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) system that operates through a primary licensed frequency. This license provides clear transmissions in an uninterrupted, undisturbed path that has up to double the power of competing systems.

“Flexibility within the smart metering market is key. Partnering with Sensus reinforces Landis+Gyr’s commitment to maintain, manufacture, market and deliver state-of-the-art, innovative, high-quality solutions to utility customers,” said Jerry Figurilli, Chief Operating Officer for Landis+Gyr. “With our robust meter platforms, the FOCUS and S4e, along with the Sensus technology, we will be able to provide quality, reliability, and flexibility to our utility customers seeking an AMI solution.”

FlexNet enables utilities to communicate with meters in both urban and rural environments to provide increased meter reading efficiency, reduced overhead costs and enhanced customer service. The system is scalable to accommodate growth as a utility expands meter deployments throughout its service territory.
