Cellnet has announced the award of two major contracts recently with Xcel Energy and Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based We Energies, a subsidiary of Wisconsin Energy Corporation.
Under the agreement with Xcel Energy, Cellnet is increasing its Minnesota area network into Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota, and will deploy UtiliNet® wireless fixed network metering to over 710,000 new solid state electricity and natural gas customer meters.
At the roll-out’s conclusion, Xcel Energy will have deployed advanced metering infrastructure to more than 2.1 million electricity and natural gas customers throughout these service areas. Under the agreement with We Energies, Cellnet will expand its fixed network advanced metering programme with the addition of 201,000 new electric and gas customers throughout service areas in Kenosha, Racine, Waukesha, and portions of Washington and Ozaukee counties.
The new contract also provides for the addition of approximately 4,000 new commercial gas customers in the Milwaukee area. Upon completion of this expansion, We Energies’ fixed network advanced metering programme will cover over 1.53 million electric and gas customers throughout its service territory.
