AMR services for water utility

Cellnet Technology, Inc. (Cellnet) has finalised a 15-year contract to supply Water District No. 1 of Johnson County (WaterOne) with network AMR services for 12,000 commercial accounts across WaterOne’s service area. WaterOne serves 130,000 residential and commercial accounts in the Kansas City metropolitan area and, based on its service boundaries, is the largest water utility in the state of Kansas.

The fixed wireless radio network system will allow WaterOne to improve its operational efficiency and will reduce labor costs associated with obtaining manual meter reads. It will also provide access to customer water usage information, monthly consumption data, readings for leak detection, on-request reads, and other value-added data.

Under the terms of the contract, Cellnet is responsible for managing, integrating, deploying, and providing automated meter reading services to WaterOne. This will include not only the installation of Cellnet compatible AMR radio frequency interface units on existing water meters, but also the turn key integration of the data collected via the Cellnet network with WaterOne’s billing and customer information system (CIS).
