The company announced this week that its new solution combines the BEACON AMA software suite with ORION communication technologies to allow automatic synchronization of meter reading field assignments whenever an Internet connection is established.
Badger Meter said it believes the new solution functionalities will allow for faster viewing of water usage data, increasing utilities’ real-time decision-making abilities.
Commenting on the new product, Bill Teichmiller, CEO of EJ Water Cooperative in Dieterich, Illinois, said: “BEACON Mobile has decreased our 4,000 miles a month drive time with two crews and has reduced customer service calls, while providing valuable data to the end user, our water customer.”
Global meter data management systems
Meanwhile, market research firm, Navigant Research has this week announced it has released a new report analysing global market for meter data management systems (MDMS) and meter data analytics (MDA) technologies.
According to a Navigant press statement, the report predicts revenue for global MDMS market to grow from US$401.1 million in 2015 to US$1.7 billion by 2024.
The report states increasing volume of smart electric meter data and applications relying on this data, including demand-side management and grid optimization, are driving the need for enhanced MDMSs and MDA.
Commenting on the launch of the report Lauren Callaway, research analyst at Navigant Research said “Vendors of the technology have seen more utility companies prioritizing a data architecture as a necessary implementation before deploying smart meters—whereas traditionally it has been seen as an afterthought to smart meters.”
The study breaks down the analysis of MDMSs and MDA market into four segments namely software licenses and upgrades, services, maintenance, and software as a service (SaaS).
