Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), a subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, has selected C3 Energy Smart Grid Analytics software for its almost two million electric and gas meter deployment.
BGE serves more than 1.25 million electric customers and more than 650,000 gas customers in Central Maryland. The first phase of the deployment will begin in the second quarter of 2014, when C3 Revenue Protection(TM) and C3 AMI Operations(TM) will be deployed.
“We selected C3 Energy as a strategic technology partner because of its unified, cloud-scale technology, comprehensive vision of smart grid analytics and deep understanding of the range of benefits that smart grid analytics can bring to BGE,” said A. Christopher Burton, vice president of Smart Grid and Technology at BGE. “We look forward to achieving operational efficiencies that will have a positive result for both BGE and our customers.”
Some of the focus areas of BGE’s partnership with C3 Energy will include AMI operations, revenue assurance, customer experience, and system planning. The capabilities will range from meter troubleshooting to evaluation of the effectiveness of demand response and energy efficiency programs.
