Big Spring goes big with new AMR water meters

Big Spring, TX, USA — (METERING.COM) — August 3, 2006 – Authorities of Big Spring, Texas have announced that the installation of new AMR water meters is progressing as planned with the near complete replacement of its first billing zone, currently set for August 9.

Peggy Walker, finance director for the city of Big Spring, noted: “The replacement process is going very smoothly, and we’re hoping to be able to finish the zone before we begin training on how to use the new system on August 14.”

The program is part of an energy and utility conservation contract the city council recently approved with Siemens Building Technologies. Once installed, the new meters are expected to provide a total saving for the city council on more accurate meter readings and billing of over US$5.6 million over the next 15 years.
