Brookfield, IL, USA — (METERING.COM) — July 25, 2006 – The Brookfield village board has today approved a US$1.5 million water replacement contract with Edinburg, Illinois-based Midwest Meter.
The contract involves the replacement of more than 4,000 commercial and residential water meters throughout the village. Midwest is also required to install a fixed-point meter reading system, in order to obtain daily meter reads.
The project has apparently involved many hours of discussion in the village board, with a final decision still to be made on how to fund it. While the board has sufficient funds at its disposal it is also considering a cost-sharing program with contributions from residents. This issue will be discussed further at the board’s next meeting, scheduled for 28 August.
