Co-op improves its meter data management processes

Denver, CO, U.S.A. — (METERING.COM) — May 30, 2008 – Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc., one of the U.S.’s largest wholesale power generation and transmission cooperatives, will deploy Itron Enterprise Edition (IEE) Meter Data Management (MDM) to improve its meter data management processes.

IEE MDM manages large volumes of interval, register and event data from advanced meters with a platform that enables utilities to streamline IT infrastructure and leverage the data to support a wide variety of applications. Deployment of IEE MDM will allow Tri-State to implement automated data quality routines, manage the data in a single enterprise-wide repository, and utilize the data for forecasting, planning, maintenance and other operations. In addition, Itron’s Customer Care software application will be integrated with IEE MDM to provide timely access to meter data for the member cooperatives.

“We consider our meter data, and the ability to efficiently collect, validate, store, analyze and make it available enterprise-wide, as a valuable information asset,” said Joel Bladow, Tri-State’s senior vice president of transmission. “The Itron Enterprise Edition Meter Data Management system provides us with the capability to automate the collection, validation and processing of the load data and make it available to our members. With Itron’s experience, market presence, product strength and service teams, this was a comfortable decision for us.”

“We made extensive efforts in specifying our requirements and evaluating available meter data management systems and providers and determined that IEE MDM best meets those requirements,” said Ken Hoguta, Tri-State’s manager for the project.

IEE MDM is able to handle a wide range of requirements, including commercial, industrial, and transmission metering to mass market metering encompassing conventional consumption reads and advanced metering infrastructure.
