Connecting devices wirelessly

The DeviceMaster® AIR wireless device server from Comtrol Corporation enables users to connect serial or Ethernet devices to an Ethernet network, either wirelessly using the 802.11b industry standard, or using standard wire. Since it connects in either a wired or wireless mode, users can opt to use wired connectivity as a fail-safe backup in the event that their wireless connection is unavailable.

The DeviceMaster AIR is ideal for connecting devices used in automation applications where running serial or Ethernet cables is not practical or possible. Product highlights include one DB-9 serial port for establishing a wireless Ethernet connection to a single serial device; one RJ45 Ethernet port for establishing a wireless connection with any DeviceMaster device server supporting multiple serial devices; and a serial tunnelling mode that establishes communication between two serial devices over the Ethernet.
