David R. Scott, an expert in advanced metering infrastructure applications and strategies and automatic meter reading, has joined Plexus Research Inc., an R. W. Beck Company, in Plexus’ Boston office. He brings nearly 35 years of expertise in metering and electric utility systems engineering, and is nationally recognized as an industry leader in electric metering.
Scott has worked with selected meter manufactures to inspire and steer several features and options now readily available in all or most solid state meters today. He managed one of the largest deployments of AMR technology in North America, with over 1.6 million electric and gas meters.
He is a Vice President of Communications for Utilimetrics (formerly AMRA) a nonprofit association providing utilities with information about innovative technologies; and a long standing active member of Edison Electric Institute and the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies.
Between 1973 and 2007 Scott held engineering, principal, and management positions at Northeast Utilities (NU) in the distribution, substation and metering disciplines. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in business administration from Western New England College in Springfield, Mass.
