US meter manufacturer Itron is gaining a foothold in the New Zealand water utility sector through a partnership deal with New Zealand field meter data company DataCol.

DataCol will distribute Itron’s technology solutions within New Zealand.

Under the partnership, DataCol will also provide technologies and services that complement Itron’s technology portfolio to provide utilities with a complete solution to reduce their non-revenue water, improve their financial performance, enhance their customer services and their brand.

Dominique Lerouge, vice-president, sales, marketing and delivery for Water and Heat, APAC, at Itron, said: “The partnership will enable water utilities in New Zealand to leverage data to become more resourceful in the way they manage their water.

Bruce Franks, CEO of DataCol, said the partnership would give the two companies “the opportunity to play a leading role in implementing reform across New Zealand’s water sector”.
