US technology giant Itron has scored a win on home ground with the conversion of existing customer the Southern Connecticut Gas Company (SCG) to Itron’s TOTAL AMI product.
Under a 20-year agreement, Itron will provide an end-to-end service for the natural gas provider by running, managing and maintaining their gas meter reading system.
The NASDAQ-listed metering company will start by installing 220,000 Itron gas communication modules and associated fixed-network infrastructure between mid-2014 and end of 2015.
Itron staff will then manage all aspects of SCG’s data collection system and operations
The solution is expected to help SCG optimise the delivery of natural gas, improve customer service and streamline business operations.
Robert M. Allessio, president and CEO of SCG, commented on the deal: “We look forward to taking our system to the next level with AMI and analytic capabilities, which will help us gain more value from our assets.”
